An DOTANOC / DOTAATTE PET-CT SCAN uses a radiotracer which targets somatostatin receptors within the body. In this scan, a small amount of radiotracer is injected in the body and its distribution is seen in the body using the PET-CT scanner.

An FDG PET-CT SCAN is commonly used in the evaluation of few cancers such as neuroendocrine cancers, pheochromocytoma, paraganglioma and few other tumors.
Do All Neuroendcrine Cancer Patients Require a Dotanoc / Dotatate PET-CT SCAN?
Not all patients with neuroendocrine cancers will require a PET-CT SCAN. However, vast majority of patients with neuroendocrine tumors will require a DOTANOC / DOTATATE PET-CT SCAN at some point of time. Need for a scan is individualized and needs o be discussed with treating oncologist.
What Are the Preparations for a Dotanoc / Dotatate PET-CT SCAN?
Preparations for a DOTANOC / DOTATATE PET-CT SCAN will depend on the reason the PET-CT SCAN is being done. Detailed individualized instructions for each patient are provided when scheduling for a PET-CT SCAN. Prolonged fasting is however, usually not required.
